Hoosiers get head start on Black Friday shopping Thanksgiving Day
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Thousands of Hoosiers woke up early Thanksgiving morning to take advantage of several in-store only deals around town.
Big Lots opened it’s door at 7:00 a.m. Thursday morning with special deals on furniture. Those deals brought Lorraine King and her son into the store to shop for a family member not even born yet.
“They are having a little girl soon and he said he wanted a rocking chair so when he got up in the middle of the night that he could rock his little girl,” King said.
Gander Mountain in Castleton opened its doors an hour later at 8:00 a.m. It brought in a wide variety of shoppers including Christopher Amick.
“My wife basically threw me out of the house while she was cooking so I thought what better thing to do than go get Christmas presents early,” Amick said. “I’m going to be pretty unproductive later so I’m happy to get out and get some shopping done and hopefully avoid the Christmas rush tomorrow.”
Others agree with Amick that shopping on Thursday is the best way to beat the Black Friday rush, and they say you still have plenty of time for family later.
“There was no traffic here, very few people in line. Easy day and get in and out and we’ll get on the road,” Brian Lewis said.
