INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Indianapolis Public Library has a new initiative called "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten."
The program was started after research showed that the more children are read to during their early years, the more prepared they'll be for kindergarten.
Parents and caregivers can register at any Indianapolis Public Library location. They will receive a tracking sheet to log the first 100 books read. After the first 100, you'll receive a progress sticker and additional tracking sheets for books read in multiples of 100. Prizes will be awarded for different levels.
