INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Indianapolis dispatchers confirm at least two people were shot, one fatally,  after an early morning shooting.

This happened at the 2900 block of Eastern Avenue around 6:15 this morning.  IMPD responded to a call of two people shot when they found the victims.

Sgt. Wooton with Metro police says the elderly female victim was shot in the arm but was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition. The male victim, police say, was shot and unresponsive in a back bedroom of the home and declared dead at the scene.

Metro police are not releasing the names of the victims until family is notified. But family tells FOX59 the elderly woman and adult male victims are mother and son.

A large group of family members arrived one by one throughout the morning. It was an emotional scene with some family members crying and hugging one another in front of the house on Eastern Ave.

Homicide investigators took over the investigation before 7:00 a.m. Sunday and have not released any additional information about who shot whom and any suspects in this case.
