NOBLESVILLE, Ind.– A Muncie man is facing drug charges after police pulled him over for excessive speed in a work zone.
Zachary Anderson, 21, was pulled over Tuesday while traveling southbound on I-69 near exit 210. Police say he was going 90 miles per hour in a posted 60 mph work zone, which was active during the time of the incident.
Anderson’s car also had licences plates which had expired in January 2016.
During the traffic stop, a trooper detected what he believed to be the smell of marijuana. After a search of the vehicle, nearly 70 grams of marijuana were seized, along with scales and drug paraphernalia.
Indiana State Police Sgt. John Perrine tweeted that while he appreciated the support, Anderson’s ISP key chain wouldn’t help him in this case.
Anderson was arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Jail on preliminary charges of reckless driving in a work zone with workers present, possession of marijuana, dealing marijuana, reckless possession of paraphernalia and driving with expired plates.
