ZIONSVILLE, Ind. – Christmas is kicking off in the village, and they’re celebrating in a big way in Zionsville.

It’s a yearly tradition, but there are some new things happening this year for locals and others who want to join in on the fun.

“Every weekend, there will be events in the village. There will be trolley rides and barrel train rides and carolers and live entertainment,” said Amanda Dorman, director of communications and community relations for Zionsville.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, there is breakfast with Santa. Tri Kappa is hosting the popular event in village restaurants. Santa will visit with the children in the restaurants beginning at 9 a.m.

Here's a rundown of some of the events:

  • Troll Scavenger Hunt: Dec. 3 (8 a.m. – 6 p.m.) and Dec. 4 (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.) at Akard True Value
  • SullivanMunce for the Holidays with a chili bowl sale, artisan boutique, bake sale: Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at SullivanMunce Cultural Center
  • Elf Scavenger Hunt: Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the Village

There’s also a ladies night Thursday, Dec. 8, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. They'll have deals, food, beverages and most of the local businesses are taking part.

“So we have seven women’s clothing stores, four jewelry stores, two art galleries, a great furniture shop and rug gallery, and home decor will all be open,” said Lesley Hunt, owner of Lesley Jane.

Specials will vary from store to store, many offering food and drinks, along with lower prices and giveaways. Another favorite is the Christmas Crawl, which is Dec. 15 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Eight businesses have their own special beverage going for $5. At Cobblestone Grill they're offering a magnificent martini called Christmas Bliss just for the holiday.

“At the end of the crawl, everybody can go to Noble Order Brewing. That's where the event wraps up. There's Karaoke and an ugly sweater contest and then you can win prizes as well,” Liz Esra, owner of Cobblestone Grill.

As the month moves on in Zionsville, there will also be the "Last Dash” event before Christmas. It’s on Dec. 20, when merchants will offer special shopping events to help people find that perfect last-minute gift.

And don’t forget you get those complimentary carriage rides along the cobblestone streets of Zionsville! For more information about the events, visit the Zionsville Chamber of Commerce's website.
