INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --Good Saturday afternoon! Temperatures today reached near 40 degrees which has been pretty consistent with the last couple of days. Temperatures checked in above average for the 8th day in a row in Indianapolis.
Tonight, temperatures will fall to near freezing with a cloudy sky and light east, northeast winds. Temperatures will climb to near 40 degrees Sunday afternoon.
Moisture will slowly spread in from the west and southwest overnight with the possibility of a rain and snow mix across these areas. Flurries will be possible in Indianapolis by daybreak, otherwise it will be cloudy. A rain and snow mix will develop through about Noon in Indy and central Indiana. Mostly rain is expected in Indianapolis through the afternoon as warm air moves in. Little to no snow accumulation is expected in the city.
If you're traveling north, be prepared for the potential of heavier snow showers that may reduce visibility, especially in areas like Kokomo and farther north. It's these areas of the state that have a chance of seeing accumulating snowfall of less than one inch through Sunday night. However, the ground is still warm so much of this should be on elevated or grassy surfaces.
The weather pattern will be active through the week, meaning several weather systems will move in bringing a chance of rain or snow to the area. Tuesday looks to bring rain while Thursday may bring accumulating snowfall to parts of central Indiana. We know for certain that arctic air is headed this way and temperatures will be taking a big dive by the end of the week! --Danielle Dozier
