INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- A package thief took his scheme to a new level, posing as a pizza delivery driver. And it was all caught on camera.
It's a new take on a crime that's popular this time of year. Surveillance video shows the man pretending to be a pizza delivery driver carrying a box as he walks up on the front porch of a home in the Meridian Kessler neighborhood. After a few curious looks and a knock on the door, the package thief strikes, taking off with more than what he came with.
"When I got the application up and running I could see a guy getting into his car in our driveway and he had something in his hands," homeowner Leon Neddo said.
Neddo and his wife were out shopping Friday afternoon. He has a surveillance video app on his phone that sends a signal as soon as someones steps on the porch. Initially they were notified the package was delivered and an hour later, the notification showed something more alarming.
"I told my wife you know I bet he's taking that package that's on our porch," Neddo said.
The family says this should be a warning to look out for your neighbors and protect your home. Mr. Neddo hopes other homeowners are equipped with technology too if this guy continues his pizza delivery impersonation.
"I figured maybe somebody else would catch this guy too and maybe eventually somehow the police will be able to find him," Neddo said.
Mr. Neddo did call the nearest Domino's pizza. They said they didn’t have a driver matching that description. If you know who the man in the video call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
