Police respond to crash on northeast side involving IPS bus; no students on board

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Police say an Indianapolis Public Schools bus was involved in a four-vehicle crash Friday on the city’s northeast side.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. near East 46th Street and Emerson Avenue.

Witnesses told police a woman was driving her car the wrong way and crashed into another car, a utility truck and the school bus. IPS said no students were on board.

An engine and tire of one of the vehicles ended up in a yard and East 46th Street was temporarily closed for crews to clean up all the debris.

No injuries were reported.

IPS issued the following statement:

“An IPS school bus was involved in a collision this afternoon shortly before 1pm near the intersection of 46th St. and Emerson Ave. No students were on board the bus at the time. The accident is under investigation by the Indianapolis Metro Police Department.”
