Suspect in stolen car hit three ISP cars during pursuit that ended at Indianapolis International Airport

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Police say an Ohio man was arrested after leading police on a chase through Indianapolis Friday, ending at the Indianapolis International Airport.

Around 2 p.m., troopers were investigating a suspicious vehicle with a man sleeping inside near the 2700 block of North Hillside Avenue. The man, identified as Ralph Thompson, 51, of Ohio, sped away when he was woken up.

The chase made its way through the city and onto southbound I-65. The suspect continued onto I-465 west before getting onto I-70 westbound, where he hit a state police car on the shoulder.

Thompson continued driving and eventually exited at the airport. Police boxed him in and two more police vehicles were struck before the suspect crashed into a ditch.

A K9 unit was able to help get Thompson into custody. No officers were injured and the police vehicles suffered minor damage.

Thompson was treated for a dog bite. He was arrested for fleeing police, vehicle theft and driving a car without a license. The 2013 Toyota Corolla had been stolen out of Ohio.
