Crews investigating after chemical spill prompts evacuation at Fishers YMCA
FISHERS, Ind.– The Fishers Fire Department says they are investigating a chemical spill at the YMCA on 126th Street.
The chemical in question was muriatic acid, which is used in pools to lower PH levels in the water.
Officials say seven people were evaluated and the scene after complaining of burning eyes and coughing, but nobody needed to be transported to the hospital. The facility was evacuated.
HAZMAT and fire crews were on the scene for about an hour and a half. The leak has been cleaned up but the cause has not been determined.
