INDIANAPOLIS — After a standoff that lasted nearly six hours, a murder suspect was taken to a local hospital in critical condition suffering from a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the head.

Police cornered 41-year-old Brian Fegley at the Value Place Hotel, Thursday afternoon. Earlier that morning, Fegley was linked to a shooting near 82nd and Shadeland Avenue that killed Eli McAfee.

McAfee’s mother told police her roommate Fegley was the shooter.

McAfee’s wife wrote on Facebook, “Please pray for his spirit and his family… god bless and remember life can be short.”

His brother added, “I loved that man more than any other living person. And he’s gone.

I hope the vibrant spirit he had will be dispersed back into nature and that you might find some beauty in this world. He had a lot of it; it shouldn’t be hard.”

Charges have not been filed in the fatal shooting yet.

A SWAT standoff on the city’s northeast side has ended.

The suspect, Brian Fegley, has been spotted inside an ambulance. His condition isn’t known at this time.

Police said the 41-year-old had barricaded himself inside the Value Place motel at 9515 Pendleton Pike just after 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Fegley is wanted in connection with the shooting death of 33-year-old Elisha McAfee, who was killed at the Free Spirit Lounge inside the Dollar Inn on the city’s northeast side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report, Fegley is the roommate of McAfee’s mother. The shooting stemmed from an argument, according to McAfee’s wife, who said Fegley shot her husband while they were leaving the bar.

A SWAT standoff is underway on the city’s northeast side as authorities close in on the suspect in a fatal bar shooting early Thursday morning.

Authorities responded to the Value Place motel at 9515 Pendleton Pike at approximately 11:40 a.m., after an officer saw a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s car.

Police told Fox59 they believe Brian Fegley, 41, is alone and barricading himself in a room.

INDIANAPOLIS – Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting on the northeast side early Monday morning as they search for the suspected shooter.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Elisha McAfee, 33, died from a gunshot wound at the Free Spirit Lounge inside the Dollar Inn in the 8100 block of North Shadeland Avenue.

Police are actively searching for 41-year-old Brian Fegley in connection with that shooting. According to an IMPD report, Fegley is the roommate of McAfee’s mother. The shooting stemmed from an argument, according to McAfee’s wife, who said Fegley shot her husband while they were leaving the bar.

Police are actively searching for Fegley, who’s believed to be driving a maroon 2004 Ford Focus sedan with Indiana license plate 914 ETL. Police consider him armed and dangerous.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police homicide detectives investigated a fatal shooting early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the Free Spirit Lounge inside the Dollar Inn, 8100 block of North Shadeland Avenue,  around 1:15 a.m.

Once inside, officers found an unidentified white male suffering from an undetermined number of gunshot wounds. Medics arrived and pronounced the victim deceased just minutes after they arrived.

Police said they believe the suspect and victim knew each other and that the shooting was the result of an argument.

In a public police report, the victim’s mother reportedly told police the person who shot her son was her roommate. Additionally, the victim’s wife told officers her husband was shot by the suspect as they were leaving the bar.

Police are actively searching for Brian Fegley, 41 of Indianapolis. Fegley is believed to be driving a maroon 2004 Ford Focus sedan with Indiana license plate 914 ETL.

He should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached by anyone but law enforcement.

According to police records, Fegley had a run-in with police in 2009. He was the person named in an intimidation investigation at a gas station near East 79th Street & North Shadeland Avenue.

An employee at the gas station told police he got into an argument with Fegley. When Fegley returned to the gas station, the employee told police he had a revolver on his hip. The employee became upset and forced Fegley from the store without incident.
