As the Indianapolis Colts continue a push toward the playoffs, they’re starting to get some national recognition.
This week’s issue of Sports Illustrated features quarterback Andrew Luck on the cover as the 7-4 Colts try to stay in the postseason hunt.
The cover story, “Chuckstrong, Luckstrong” by Peter King, chronicles the Colts’ unlikely rise as a playoff contender while dealing with a rookie quarterback and coach Chuck Pagano’s recovery from leukemia.
The Colts’ season certainly has had a special feel, and while it’s unclear whether a Hollywood ending is in store, interim head coach Bruce Arians told SI that the season has a movie-quality feel to it.
“This whole story’s for Steven Spielberg. I can’t explain it,” Arians told SI.
This marks the second time Luck has graced the cover of Sports Illustrated. The rookie signal caller was also featured on a regional edition of magazine’s college football preview in August 2011.
The last time a Colts player ended up on the cover was November 16, 2009. No surprise here—the featured player was Peyton Manning.
