It only took a few minutes for a mother to lose her checkbook, gift cards and much more after thieves stole her purse while she was dropping her kids off at a Greenwood daycare.

According to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the woman parked her car outside the Goddard Daycare on 5044 Bancroft Ln. between 7:10 a.m. and 7:20 a.m. on Thursday and went inside with her kids.

When she came back a few minutes later, she found someone had smashed the front passenger’s side window and stolen her purse. Its contents included debit and credit cards, gift cards, movie tickets, a lunch bag, some cash and more.

Surveillance footage from the school showed that a light-colored SUV pulled up to the woman’s vehicle, stayed there briefly and then took off. Investigators couldn’t read the license plate number from the footage, the report said.

Investigators said they believe the SUV is a 2000-2004 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Police were working to get the security footage for further review.
