Indianapolis Metropolitan police have identified a man shot and killed during a home burglary Monday night on the northeast side.

Police said Lenon Henry, 52, is the man who broke into a home in the 3800 block of N. Arlington. The 65-year-old homeowner called 911 to report a burglary at her home. When officers arrived, she told them that there were guns inside the home.

Police encountered live ammunition and began searching the basement where they encountered Henry. Police said he had a large coat over the top half of his body and refused repeated commands to show his hands. According to officers, they gave the order at least ten times. When police moved the coat, Henry reached toward his waist and officers opened fire.

Henry died at the scene. Officers said he was unarmed.
