A company that already runs three Indianapolis charter schools has gotten the go-ahead to open three more.

The City-County Council approved a proposal to establish three new elementary charter schools run by EdPower. The organization already operates the Tindley School, Tindley Prep and Arlington.

The three new schools will be named Tindley Summit, Tindley Genesis and Tindley Odyssey. The mayor’s charter schools office has not revealed an exact location for the schools, although they’ll likely be in the vicinity of the other Tindley schools.

The City-County Council approved the new charter schools in a 23-4 vote, with some councilors expressing concerns about the growing number of charter schools in the city.
