Now that Christmas is over, it’s time to take down the tree. Indy Parks is once again offering free Christmas tree recycling.

Residents can drop off their real trees from now until Jan. 31. Crews will then turn the trees into mulch for the city to use in the spring.

Before you drop of the tree, it’s important to remove all ornaments, lights and tree stands.

Trees will be accepted from dawn to dusk at seven city parks. Those parks are Broad Ripple, Ellenberger, Garfield, Krannert, Riverside, Sahm and Northwestway.

I am hoping that our community will adapt this program by spring as we are moving from a house into a condo so the tree can no longer be accommodated. Perhaps our Christmas tree will find a new home.
