Nationwide operation nets more than 100 sexually exploited children, 3 locally

WASHINGTON – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) have identified 123 sexually exploited children as a part of the results of Operation Sunflower, which began after the Chicago ICE office discovered pornographic pictures of children they believe were taken in California.

HSI and other law enforcement agencies collaborated in arresting 245 people. Of the 123 victims, 110 were identified in 19 states.

Locally, HSI Indianapolis had four arrests resulting from Operation Sunflower. They also identified three victims under the age of 12. HSI Indianapolis has since identified about 40 additional leads.
