Six people, including an infant, went to an Indianapolis hospital following a three-vehicle crash that may be traced to a woman’s decision to text while driving.

A car, an SUV and a moving van from “Two Men and a Truck” collided at East 38th Street and North Butler Avenue Friday afternoon, according to the Indianapolis Fire Department.

Investigators said the 28-year-old woman who was driving the car hit the moving truck, which lost control and slammed into the SUV. The driver of the moving truck said the car veered across the center line and hit his vehicle.

According to multiple witnesses, the female driver swerved all over the road and appeared to be texting. Two juveniles, a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old, were riding with her.

The woman and her passengers went to IU Methodist Hospital to be checked out. The people in the SUV—two adults and an infant—also went to Methodist.

The men in the moving truck were not hurt.

      You mean like this:

      IC 9-21-8-59

      (2) transmit a text message or an electronic mail message; or
      (3) read a text message or an electronic mail message;
      while operating a moving motor vehicle unless the device is used in conjunction with hands free or voice operated technology, or unless the device is used to call 911 to report a bona fide emergency.

    They need to have authorization to see the time stamp of the latest messages (not message itself) so they can prove it was a contributing factor.
