Several inaugural events planned in honor of elected Governor Mike Pence

Before the big day Monday, there’s several events all over Indianapolis in honor of Governor-elect Mike Pence.

On Saturday, a family fun day will kick off celebrations. The event starts at 11 a.m. at the Indy Car Factory on Main Street in Speedway. There’ll be music, refreshments and entertainment for all ages. Governor-elect Mike Pence and First Lady Karen Pence will welcome families at 12:30 p.m. The event is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring an item of canned food to donate to the Midwest Food Bank.

Saturday night, the JW Marriott will host the Inaugural Ball. It starts at 7 p.m and lasts until 11 p.m. Registration is required.

Sunday’s events will kick off with a praise and worship service at the Convention Center. The event is open to the public and begins at 1:30 p.m. Doors open an hour before. The event will be multi-denominational and several local bands and choirs will provide music.

Sunday evening, Governor-elect Pence will attend a ceremony to honor former Governor Edgar Whitecomb. Lieutenant Governor-elect Sue Ellspermann will also be in attendance.

Monday’s swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Indiana State House. WXIN will carry the event live, starting at 11 a.m.
