Suspicious device found near Anderson

Update:  The Delaware County Bomb Squad was able to neutralize the device, using special equipment.

Once the device was rendered safe, the device was turned over to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials checked the area and no other items of interest were located.

Original: Just after 2:30 Saturday afternoon, the Madison County Sheriff’s officer was called about a suspicious device on Alexandria Pike, just north of Anderson.

Alexandria Pike at County Road 360 North has been closed to traffic while police investigate the device.

The Delaware County Bomb Team was also called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

Some residents in the area have left their homes.
