I had the great pleasure of visiting with several students at Hasten Hebrew Academy in Indianapolis this morning.  Ms. Gribbins invited me to speak to her kindergarten class and the 2nd grade class joined in as well.

I started off by telling them all about how the weather works at a television station and some common severe weather events we see here in Indiana.  The kids really enjoyed the green screen demonstration that I did. After that I opened up the room for questions and that’s when the fun really started!  I love the pure honesty of a child and the awesome questions they come up with.  Here are just a few of the questions that made me giggle:

Do you appreciate your job?  Well, of course!
What things do you use to control the weather?  Wish we could control it, but not part of my job.
Why do you like the weather?  “Because it’s cool,” would have been the most honest answer I could have given.

This visit was also my first time at a Hebrew school so I asked the boys and girls to teach me a few hebrew words.  You could tell that the kids enjoyed teaching me something while I was there.

Thank you again to Ms. Gribbins for inviting me to your classroom today and I hope to see you in future years.

If you are an area teacher who is doing a weather unit, don’t hesitate to contact one of the meteorologist here at Fox 59.  We love visiting classrooms and answering questions from your students.
