INDIANAPOLIS — A mother and four children are among seven people that escaped a west side fire without injury Tuesday morning.
Wayne Township Firefighters responded to the Port O’ Call Apartments around 1:45 a.m. when callers to 911 reported a fire inside one of the units.
When firefighters arrived they found fire coming from the first floor window. Within 15 minutes crews had the fire under control.
A mother and her four children escaped the apartment where fire officials say the fire began.
Two men escaped a second apartment, and smoke and fire damaged a third unoccupied apartment.
Wayne Township fire officials determined some type of electrical problem caused the fire. They estimate smoke and fire did about $50,000 dollars in damage.
