A burglary suspect who was in handcuffs escaped from police custody Thursday.
Police were called to the 8100 block of East 34th Street just before 3 p.m. They saw the suspect’s vehicle on a nearby street and a short pursuit ensued.
Police were able to take 17-year-old Larry Williams and a passenger into custody. Police were processing paperwork, they said, when Williams was able to unlock the officer’s car and escape despite being handcuffed.
Officers set up a large perimeter in an attempt to catch Williams but were unsuccessful.
Williams is described as 5’6″ tall and 160 lbs. He has a thin mustache and may have gold teeth. He was wearing a gray hoodie, blue jeans and Addidas tennis shoes.
Anyone with information on Williams’ whereabouts is asked to call CrimesStoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
