Dozens of residents are displaced Thursday after a fire ripped through a northeast side apartment building.

Firefighters responded to the Harrison Point apartments, located in the 9000 block of East Bourbon Street, just before noon.

Fire officials said approximately 50 units in the affected building were damaged.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.  An investigation is underway.

Maybe Lawrence Fire Dept would have gotten the fire under control sooner if the City didn't layoff 24 of their ambulance staff. The firefighters could have been on the frontline apparatus if their Dept was staffed safely.
