INDIANAPOLIS – A  Shelbyville man charged with fatally hitting a 63-year-old woman with his truck and then leaving the scene of the accident had little to say as he went to court Thursday.

Greg Hudson, 50, faces a charge of failure to stop after an accident causing death. Prosecutors said Hudson was driving along Meridian Street and Troy Avenue on Jan. 13 when he hit Kathy Clark, killing her. Police received an anonymous tip linking Hudson and his truck to the crash.

According to investigators, Hudson originally said his vehicle was damaged while he visited businesses on the northeast side. When presented with paint chips and headlight lens pieces recovered from the scene, he admitted he was in the area on the night that Clark was killed. He said he thought he’d hit a wooden barricade and didn’t know he’d hit a person until two days later.

Hudson would not comment on the case when approached by Fox59 before and after a court appearance Thursday in which he waived all readings. He remains out on bond.

His next day in court is set for Feb. 27. His trial is set for April 4.
