Person shot to death on city’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS — Metro Police Homicide Detectives investigated the apparent shooting death of a man on the city’s east side.

Officers responded to a home in the 4300 block of East 18th Street around 12:45 a.m. Thursday investigating reports of a person shot.

When officers arrived they found a 39-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound right inside the home’s front door.

Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives are investigating who is responsible for the shooting death.

Three other people were inside the home at the time of the incident and they detectives are questioning them, but police don’t believe they are suspects.

Police said they are looking for one or more additional suspects that may have left the scene.
