GREENE COUNTY – Strong overnight storms caused severe damage in eastern Greene County.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., the Greene County Sheriff’s Department reported heavy structural damage to approximately 13 to 15 homes along State Road 43, between Solsberry and Hendricksville, Ind.

The National Weather Service has determined that straight line wind damage is responsible for the damage and not a tornado.

The damage included heavy debris, including fallen trees and power lines, which blocked the roadway.

One damage home had its shed decimated and spread across a 100-yard stretch.

Police closed State Road 43 between Solsberry to Hendricksville for several hours for debris removal and to fix power lines.

Emergency crews are surveying the damage. There are no reports of serious injuries.

Our home just outside Solsberry off S.R. 43 was left untouched…we have no warning alarms in this area ..so we knew nothing of it until this am…thank you fox 59 for acknowleging our small community and our need for such info….KLZL county road 1000 East.

The no alarms excuse is just that an excuse. Go out and buy a weather radio that gives out alarms and warnings when a storm is coming. And yes they are about the same cost as going out and having a few beers.

Tornado warnings and watches are nothing unfamiliar in this area anymore. No one is making excuses, it would help our community to have warming alarms. The warnings and watches keep most of us alert, but an alarm would definitely help us out? Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today, Oscar? :-/

In my experience, nobody knows the difference between warnings and watches anymore, and most ignore both, or at least don't take them too seriously.

Live in this area and have a midland weather radio… Well worth the $30 investment. We didn't get the bulk of damage but might have saved our lives in a different case since we don't have sirens that blare when things happen…
