Initial storm reports from the National Weather Service

A strong line of showers and thunderstorms pass through Central Indiana in the overnight hours.  Here are the initial storm reports from the National Weather Service. 

Highlights: No tornadoes confirmed in Central Indiana overnight.  Our main issued was damaging wind gusts. 

Midnight: 60 mph wind gust in Terre Haute (Vigo County) 

12:10 AM: 47 mph wind gust in West Lafayette (Tippecanoe County) 

12:16 AM: 55 mph wind gust in Carlisle (Sullivan County) from a trained spotter

 12:31 AM: 60 mph wind gust in Crawfordsville.  Tree down at US 136 just east of Crawfordsville (Montgomery County) 

12:45 AM: 59 mph wind gusts in Greencastle (Putnam County) 

1:00 AM: 70 mph wind gust in Odon (Daviess County) 

1:00 AM: 50 mph non-thunderstorm wind gusts 4 miles NE of Greensburg (Decatur County) 

1:10 AM: 70 mph wind gust 2 miles southeast of Brownsburg (Hendricks County) 

1:15 AM: 56 mph wind gust in Zionsville (Boone County)

1:20 AM: 58 mph wind gust in Tipton (Tipton County) 

1:22 AM: 65 mph wind gust 3 miles south of Paragon (Morgan County)

1:23 AM: 64 mph wind gust in Bloomington (Monroe County) 

1:30 AM: 65 mph wind gust 5 miles southwest of Bloomington (Monroe County) 

1:33 AM: 63 mph wind gust in Tipton (Tipton County) 

1:45 AM: Damage to power lines on east 86th Street in Indianapolis (Marion County) 

1:46 AM: 52 mph wind gust 5 miles WNW of Frankton (Tipton County) 

1:57 AM: 55 mph wind gust in Greenwood (Johnson County) 

2:01 AM: 55 mph wind gust 2 miles ENE of Beanblossom (Brown County) 

2:13 AM: Thunderstorm wind damage 1 mile north of Solsberry (Greene County). State Route 43 closed due to power lines laying across the road.  A barn was destroyed due to straight line winds.

2:20 AM: Thunderstorm wind damage 6 miles WSW of Shelbyville (Shelby County).  The County Sheriff reported damage to a porch on a house. A tree was blown into power lines. 

4:03 AM:  Thunderstorm wind damage 5 miles SW of Columbus (Bartholomew County). Power outage reported extending south from SR 58 between Walesboro and Ogilville.
