INDIANAPOLIS — Metro Police arrest a man after they said he was responsible for robbing a south side Denny’s restaurant.
Officers responded to the Denny’s in the 3500 block of South Keystone Avenue, near I-65, around 3:15 a.m.
Police told Fox59 the suspect threatened workers with some sort of tire iron-like weapon, stole the cash register, and drove away from the scene in a reportedly stolen blue van.
Officers searched the area and caught up with the van around 4 a.m. near Raymond and I-65. After a short pursuit, the suspect crashed into an embankment where East Tabor Street dead ends into I-65 and took off running.
Police set up a search perimeter but were unable to find the suspect. They stopped their search around 4:30 a.m.
An officer patrolling an area about six blocks south of the crash site located the suspect. Police placed him in custody with the assistance of K-9 officers around 5 a.m.
