A bill for a new preschool voucher program moving is forward at the Indiana Statehouse.

The program will help thousands of low-income children get a jump start on education.

Lawmakers say 61 percent of kids aged three and four are not enrolled in preschool.

The voucher program is expected to follow similar guidelines that other school vouchers use.

I would be all for a voucher, especially since I have a 4 year old that is not in preschool currently. BUT I don't want the government control. Bad enough a chunk of my paychecks go to federal and local taxes and I'm buying new (overpriced) athletic fields and equipment rather than getting the young children of Indiana a jump start on education. I'll teach my child the fundamentals to prepare them for elementary….praying for the children that don't have the responsible parents to teach them early and depend on these programs.

I'm for a voucher too, especially if we have a choice in what preschool they can enroll in. I have a 3 year old that I am enrolling into preschool for next year, and I am coming out of pocket $3,000. I don't have that kind of money so I am using some of it from my tax refund. The voucher would help me to save for his future 🙂

This should never happen unless it is available to ALL families. This is just another entitlement paid from the pockets of " non-low income" working families. This will in sooo many cases act as additional two year dumping ground for moms that just hand their kids to society. Sorry but it should be everyone or no one. It's time for those people abusing the system to buck up.
