According to police, the driver of the IPL truck may have been on medication and blacked out near 64th & College before driving off the east side of the road, colliding with a seasonal fruit stand known as Johnny’s Market.

Medics transported the driver to IU Health Methodist Hospital for treatment to serious but non-life threatening injuries.

There were reports of minor, localized power outages. Power was turned off in the immediate area for the safety of first responders. Crews restored all electric service around 1 a.m.

Fox59 spoke to the owner of Johnny’s Market shortly after the crash.

He said something similar happened in June, 2012. Despite the damage to his business he plans to rebuild and open in time for the spring season.
