I-74 reopens following fatal crash near Shelbyville

SHELBY COUNTY, IND. — A fatal crash blocked portions of I-74 near Shelbyville, Ind. Tuesday morning.

INDOT reports State Police and local law enforcement responded to the 112 mile marker of westbound I-74 around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday.

The accident, involving a large truck and a passenger car, blocked lanes in that area. Police diverted traffic away from the scene via Exit 113/State Road 9.

Local law enforcement said no one had been transported to local hospitals. INDOT reported at least one person died in the crash.

The westbound lanes of I-74 reopened around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. Specific information such as names and other identifiable information will not be released until family members are notified.
