Tracking cold air moving in for weekend.

Snow showers will be possible today but overall the big story going into the weekend will be the return of arctic cold air.  Thursday highs hit 50 degrees here in Indianapolis but highs today will only hit the mid-30s.  Saturday highs will only hit the mid-20s!  While Sunday will be warmer it won’t be by much.  Sunday highs will be around 30 degrees.

At least the weekend will be dry.  A passing snow shower along with flurries will be possible today and flurries may continue into the overnight hours.  Slick roads could develop in some areas as roads will start off untreated.  Bridges, overpasses and elevated roads will be of particular concern today.

As we head into next week it appears we have a couple of chances for rain and snow.  The first chance is on Monday into Tuesday morning with light rain showers changing over to snow.  A similar set-up could impact Indiana on Thursday through Friday with another round of rain followed by some snow.  Monday’s high will be in the upper 40s with Monday likely being the warmest day of next week.  Temperatures will be in the thirties for most of the day on Tuesday with a high near 30 for Wednesday.  34 degrees is the expected high for Thursday.
