Wal-Mart made a significant donation to Gleaners Food Bank Friday.

The retail giant donated $125,000 to the organization

The money will go towards buying a half-million pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables.That equals about two million servings for hungry Hoosiers.

“Just like all of us, we want to eat nutritionally, so it’s very important for folks, even if they are in need, they can have a balanced diet, it gives us the nutrients we all need,” said Cindy Hubert, CEO of Gleaners Food Bank.

Wal-Mart donates an average of more than 2.5 million pounds of food on top monetary donations to Gleaners  every year.
