Woman killed in east side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are investigating an apparent shooting death on the city’s east side.

According to a Metro Police spokesperson, officers responded to a shots fired call around 3:20 a.m. near East 30th Street and North Arlington Avenue.

The caller providing the information hung up before providing any more information to dispatchers.

Police investigated the call but could not find anything at that time.

About an hour later, around 4:30 a.m., an unidentified female was found deceased due to an apparent gunshot wound near 2800 N Hawthorne Lane.

Metro homicide detectives are investigating.
