Search underway for escaped Rush Co. inmate, woman suspected of aiding him

The Rush County Sheriff’s Department is searching for an escaped prisoner and a woman who authorities said helped him flee.

Saturday, authorities said Tony Shreve, 36, was outside the jail performing work detail, when he appeared to be motioning toward a female who pulled her vehicle up alongside Shreve.  Shreve then jumped into the vehicle and fled the area.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Amie Dawn Hernandez, 25, who was wanted out of Shelby Co. for a house arrest violation.

Shreve is described to be 5-feet-8-inches and 140 pounds.  He has blue eyes, short brown hair and a goatee.

Hernandez is described to be 5 feet and 140 pounds with brown eyes and long brown or possibly dyed blonde hair.  She may also use the alias name of Ashley Prez.
