The Department of Public Works and INDOT prepared area roadways to help get drivers where they need to go Wednesday morning.
Ninety drivers reported for duty at 11 p.m. Tuesday. The rain prevented road crews from pre-treating highways, but there will be several salt trucks out ahead of rush hour.
Throughout the overnight hours, crews could be seen salting Interstates and city streets to keep them from freezing.
Officials said the salt barns are stocked so there’s no concern about shortages.
The cold and wet weather is expected to stick around for at least the next two weeks and crews will be ready for it.
