Winter Weather Advisory in effect for northern Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS — The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for northern Indiana.

Precipitation is expected to begin across areas along and including Lafayette, Kokomo, and Muncie around 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The precipitation is expected to fall as sleet, ice, or freezing rain before changing to all rain later in the day.

The National Weather Service expects around 1/10th of an inch of ice to accumulate.

The Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect at 6 a.m. Tuesday and remains in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The advisory means periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Motorists should be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
