Eyeing winter storm in days ahead…

This is an archived article and the information in the article may be outdated. Please look at the time stamp on the story to see when it was last updated.

A very complex winter storm track is in the works for the next couple of days!  First off, this storm is not going to have a great impact on us today…I think we start with sunshine this morning and watch clouds increase slowly from the west.  There will be a small chance of a light, widely scattered wintry mix (sleet, flurries, rain showers) this afternoon for parts of Indiana with roads just fine for the evening rush.  The air is very dry so much of this will evaporate or be absorbed before reaching the ground.  Here is your timeline:

Tonight, expect a few scattered rain showers and a light wintry mix in our northern counties by sunrise…Again most roads just fine for Tuesday morning with temperatures right at 32°!  Rain and snow will begin to pick up throughout the day with problems beginning to set-up in our northern counties by the evening!  All snow falling by 7:00pm Tuesday night for central and northern Indiana, with accumulations taking hold for Indianapolis through Wednesday morning…Here is a snapshot of what will be happening by Tuesday at 6:00pm:

Snowfall estimates will widely vary from north to south…This is an early estimate for snow totals by Wednesday afternoon once the snow has ended (expect some adjustments to this within the next 24 hours):

For areas south and along I-70 west of Indianapolis:  Dusting to an inch possible

Indianapolis: 1 to 3 inch totals

North, northeast of Indianapolis and extreme eastern areas of I-70:   3 to 7 inches possible
