Police identify man seriously burned in near west side fire

A man is in serious condition in the hospital after his west side home caught fire Monday.

Fire crews responded to the 300 block of South Holmes Avenue around 3:40 a.m.

Firefighters found 59-year-old Thomas Rexroat outside the home and rushed him to the hospital with serious burns. Family members said he suffered burns over 69 percent of his body. He is currently in a medically induced coma.

The fire remains under investigation.
