A 22-year-old Indianapolis man was arrested Monday after police said they found a “significant marijuana growing operation” in his north side home, which is located near the Indiana School for the Deaf.

Johnathon Averitte, 22, was preliminarily charged with dealing and possession of marijuana.

Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department responded to a home in the 4200 block of North Ralston Avenue to investigate a report of a fugitive residing there.  When the deputies arrived, they reported there was a very strong odor of marijuana emanating from the residence.

Fourteen marijuana plants were located during a search of the residence, said the sheriff’s department.

Averitte could face enhanced charges due to the operation’s proximity to the Indiana School for the Deaf.
