Power is restored for the thousands of IPL customers who were in the dark overnight.
The lights went out for more than 10,000 people on the east side Saturday just after 11:30 p.m. IPL says a downed Cumberland substation at German Church Road was to blame. While they were working on that outage, the lights went out for more than 1,500 others in central Indianapolis.
IPL warned that while they were fixing that first outage, connecting to different substations, other people may lose power briefly.
It is unclear whether that was the cause of the central area outages.
As of 4:30 a.m. Sunday, only 17 people remained without power.
IPL continues to make repairs.

Good job, IPL… Thanks for your very cold overnight diligent work for your customers who need power to keep warm. Having lived here for 72 years, I think IPL has had less sustained power outages than almost anyplace in America (based upon those outages listed in news reports).
