An annual report that ranks the overall health of Indiana’s counties rated three Central nine counties among the state’s healthiest while Marion County lagged behind.

Hamilton, Hendricks and Boone counties took the top three spots in a report from County Health Rankings and Roadmaps. Marion County ranked 79th among Indiana’s 92 counties.

The report takes several factors into consideration, including education, jobs, income and the environment. Other aspects include access to care, mortality, morbidity and health behaviors (tobacco and alcohol use, diet, exercise, sexual activity).
