The U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the Defense of Marriage Act Wednesday. Governor Mike Pence says he’ll be keeping an eye on the case.
The Defense of Marriage Act is a federal law that defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
Governor Pence said he’s waiting to see what happens.
“We’re monitoring the oral arguments that are taking place this week before the Supreme Court and like most states and most Americans, we look forward to a decision,” said Pence. “We’ll make any decisions about Indiana’s position after that time.”
The governor says he believes marriage should be between a man and woman.
Rulings in both cases are expected this June.
