INDIANAPOLIS — A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a van on the city’s northeast side.

The accident happened at East 38th Street and North Post Road just after 9 p.m. Monday.

According to a public police report, the driver told police he didn’t see the pedestrian when he was driving east on 38th Street.

A witness heading west on 38th Street told police she saw the pedestrian cross the street and step in front of the van.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

Police do not believe high speeds were a factor. The driver submitted to a blood draw at Wishard Hospital.

Officials worked through the overnight hours to reconstruct the scene and try to determine what led to the deadly crash.

Yes. I am that callous. Stupid should hurt. Have you ever been to the 38th and Post area? If you ever wanted to go on safari, save your money and just visit 38th and Post. You won't see many lions or zebras, but the ambiance is the same.

I agree. Some idiot walked right in front of us while we had a green light and we had to slam on our takes so we wouldn’t hit them. A bunch if idiots drive and walk around like the have the right away. Annoys the crap out of me. I’m surprised there isn’t more accidents there
