IPL: Power now restored after nearly 21,000 customers left without power

UPDATE (3:15 p.m.): IPL officials tell Fox59 News that all power has been restored.  Officials said the power outage started at 18th Street and Lafayette Road, where a damaged static line fell on other lines.

UPDATE (3:09 p.m.): Outages increase to nearly 21,000.

ORIGINAL POST (2:54 p.m.): More than 10,000 Indianapolis Power and Light Company (IPL) customers are without power on the city’s north and northwest side Tuesday afternoon.

Traffic lights at major intersections are also out.  One of those intersections is 96th and Michigan.

IPL officials are unclear at this time what is causing the outage.
