Police investigate east side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS — Metro Police detectives investigated a shooting Tuesday.

Officers patrolling East 38th Street and North Post Road heard several shots fired just after Midnight.

A few moments later, one of the officers investigating the shots fired was driving on Bel Air Drive. She heard an additional gunshot, then someone scream from an upstairs window.

Seconds later, two people walked out of a home in the 8800 block of Bel Air Drive. One of the two suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the head or neck.

Medics transported the gunshot victim to Wishard Hospital.

Witnesses told police they believe the gunshots came from outside the home.
