A man is dead Saturday morning after leading police on a chase that ended in a fatal crash.

IMPD tried to pull the motorcycle driver over around 5:15 a.m. near 24th Street and Arlington Avenue. The man refused to stop and a chase ensued, as he blew through several lights from the east side to 38th Street and Boulevard Place.

That’s where the man cliped an SUV, went flying into the air and crashed his bike.

Initial reports said the driver was dead on the scene. It was actually a near-death crash.

He was rushed to Methodist Hospital in critical condition. He has since died of his injuries, according to IMPD.
