Marion police arrest suspected bank robber

The Marion Police Department has arrested 69-year-old Alva Funk of Lafayette for his possible involvement in two bank robberies. The first robbery happened on January 24th at the Regions Bank on West Kem Road.  The 2nd robbery happened April 5th at Star Financial Bank on South Western Avenue. He may be responsible for other robberies in Kokomo and Anderson as well.

Funk was on parole for other crimes when he was arrested. He is being held at the Grant County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond and a 15 day hold for parole authorities.

The investigation into the robberies was a joint effort by the Marion, Kokomo, Anderson and Lafayette police departments, as well as the FBI, State Police, DOC parole agents and the Grant County Sheriff’s Department.
