Franklin road crews are trying out a new way to fix the streets you drive on and it could same time and tax dollars.

The plan involves grinding up the current street and then repaving over that.

The new process costs 50 to 60 percent less than reconstructing an entire road. It also takes about one third the time to do it.

A portion of the road can also remain open while crews work.

The only drawback is that it’s not effective on some road surfaces.
